Why bifold doors?

Bifold doors, also known as concertina doors, provide up to a 95% clear opening, creating a wow factor in small or large apertures. An odd number of panels in one direction provides a single access door, and then the doors can be opened one pair at a time.

SUNFLEX folding sliding door systems can be configured to open inwards or outwards, sliding to the left or right and in a wide range of configurations for openings as small as 1.3m right the way up to 22m if required.

Bi-fold exclusive in-line handles

The handles on all our bifold doors are finished in-line with the door frame to provide a completely uninterrupted view through the glass. This attention to detail in handle design is exclusive to SUNFLEX bifold doors, creating a sleek and contemporary appearance when the doors are closed.

All handles are colour matched to the frame of the door as standard with an in-line lever handle on the lead door and in-line flush handles operating the locking shootbolts on every second panel in the set.

A traditional horizontal handle with latch for the lead-door can be requested for a more traditional operation if you wish.

Exclusive panel catch technology

All SUNFLEX bifold doors feature exclusive panel catch technology that secures the lead-door in place when the doors are opened, adding that crucial element of safety. When the doors are open the panel catch locks the lead-door against the second panel, preventing it from being closed accidentally by small children or from blowing shut in the wind.

Weather and thermal performance

The entire SUNFLEX bifold door range offers the most advanced protection from wind and rain for any folding patio doors on the market, making them ideal for whatever the British weather can throw at them. This is crucial because whilst opening up the bifold doors in the middle of summer is why the style of door is so popular, the system has to be able to cope with cold and wintery weather as well.

The SF75eco aluminium and SF75c timber-clad aluminium systems combine industry-leading weather performance with advanced thermal efficiency, capable of achieving incredibly low U-values from just 0.8W/m²K triple glazed based on a centre-pane of 0.5W/m²K , making the bifold doors suitable for homes built to Passivhaus standards.
